What are Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters often known as ‘injectable moisturisers’ are treatments designed to deeply hydrate the skin, improve texture, and enhance overall radiance. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that add volume, skin boosters work by delivering moisture-retaining hyaluronic acid directly into the skin, stimulating collagen production and improving skin quality from within.

Some skin boosters that we use in clinic such as redensity 1 and NCTF have less hyaluronic acid but contain additional skin nutrients like amino acids, antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins all of which work synergistically to improve skin texture and elasticity.

How do skin boosters work?

Skin boosters are injected into the superficial layers of the skin where they attract and retain water, improving hydration at a cellular level. This increased hydration stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which over time leads to smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. The results are gradual and natural-looking.

What are the benefits of skin boosters?

Skin boosters offer a range of benefits, including improved skin hydration, smoother texture, reduced fine lines, and a more radiant complexion. They can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, and hands basically anywhere the skin appears dull, tired, or dehydrated. The treatment is especially popular for enhancing skin glow and restoring elasticity without adding volume.

Which skin boosters do you use and why?

We use Profhilo, Redensity 1 by Teoxane and NCTF (New Cellular Treatment Factor by Fillmed) a trio of advanced, injectable skin boosters chosen very deliberately for their safety profile and results. Each of these contains ultra-pure hyaluronic acid alongside carefully selected ingredients (such as amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins) to deeply hydrate, support collagen and improve overall skin quality.

All three products are CE-marked with robust, peer-reviewed clinical data behind them, and are manufactured by established European pharmaceutical-grade companies. In clinic, I’ll explain which option is best for your skin, your age and your goals – for example, Profhilo for deep hydration and “airbrushed” glow, Redensity 1 for fine lines and luminosity, or NCTF for long-term skin revitalisation.

The key message for my patients in Hale, Altrincham and across South Manchester is that we only use high-quality, scientifically backed products that we also also comfortable having in our own skin.

What can I expect during a skin booster appointment with Dr Caroline Warden in Hale, Altrincham?

Before your appointment:

No special preparation is usually needed, but we advise avoiding certain supplements or blood thinners for a week prior to reduce bruising such as fish oil, vitamin E, Ginkgo biloba, ibuprofen and garlic supplements. You do not need to stop taking aspirin, unless you have been advised that it is safe to do so.

Pre-appointment you will be asked to complete an online medical form which we will go through with you during your consultation.   This is to make sure that you are medically suitable for the procedure, that there are no medical contraindications.

During your Consultation:

Your appointment will begin with a detailed consultation.  Dr. Caroline Warden will talk through your expectations and your goals, the procedure itself, the potential risks, and discuss your relevant medical history.

If you are medically suitable and you are happy to go ahead with the treatment we will then ask you to read and sign a consent form, and take some before photos.  Unless you have consented for us to publish them, these photos are for our records will never be used without your permission.

During your procedure:

The treatment itself involves a series of 5 injections strategically placed, to both side of the face.

We talk through everything that we do, whilst we are doing it.

Whilst you may feel a mild sting during the injecting process, most patients find the treatment tolerable as we use a strong numbing cream, and the procedure itself is quick typically takes less then 10 minutes to administer.

Aftercare:

We will take some ‘after’ photos for our records. Your photos will not be shared (unless you have consented for us to do so).

We will talk through our aftercare advice, and provide you with both a digital and a physical copy to take home with you. You will also have Dr. Caroline’s private number to contact her if you have any concerns or questions.

Will will be in direct contact with you a few days post-procedure, to see how you are getting on. Post-treatment you very much remain under our care.

How many skin booster treatments are required?

For optimal results, a course of 2–3 treatments spaced 3- 4 weeks apart is usually recommended, however most patients see a result after just one treatment.

Maintenance treatments every 6 months help to maintain these results. Your individual treatment plan will be specifically tailored to your skin and your aesthetic goals.

Skin Booster FAQ – Profhilo, NCTF & Redensity 1 in Hale, Altrincham,

  • Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to improve skin quality rather than change your facial shape.

Instead of “filling” lines like traditional dermal fillers, skin boosters use highly hydrating hyaluronic acid and/or nutritive complexes to:

    • Deeply hydrate the skin

    • Improve elasticity and firmness

    • Soften fine lines and crepiness

    • Boost radiance and overall skin health

At our doctor-led clinic in Hale, near Altrincham in South Manchester, we mainly use Profhilo, along with NCTF and Redensity 1, to deliver natural, fresh-looking results.

  • At Dr Caroline Warden Skin & Aesthetic Clinic in Hale, we focus on premium, evidence-based skin boosters:

    • Profhilo® – our hero bioremodelling treatment for global skin quality and firmness

    • NCTF 135HA by Fillmed – a mesotherapy-style skin booster combining hyaluronic acid with vitamins, minerals and amino acids

    • Teoxane Redensity 1 – a hyaluronic acid “skin quality” booster designed to smooth fine lines and brighten dull, tired skin

Having a range allows us to tailor treatment plans for patients travelling from Hale, Altrincham, Bowdon, Timperley and across South Manchester.

  • We use Profhilo as our primary skin booster because it:

    • Contains an exceptionally high concentration of ultra-pure hyaluronic acid

    • Is designed for bioremodelling – stimulating your own collagen and elastin for firmer, bouncier skin

    • Offers deep hydration and improved texture without adding obvious “volume”

    • Uses just five injection points on each side of the face, which many patients find more comfortable and convenient

    • Gives beautiful results for common concerns we see in Hale and South Manchester such as:

      • Crepey cheeks

      • Mild skin laxity along the jawline

      • Dull or tired-looking skin

Profhilo is ideal if you want to look fresher and more rested without anyone being able to put their finger on what you’ve had done.

  • All three treatments improve skin quality, but they work slightly differently:

    • Profhilo®

      • High-concentration, stabilised hyaluronic acid

      • Focuses on bioremodelling, hydration and elasticity

      • Excellent for crepey, lax skin on the face, neck and hands

    • NCTF 135HA (Fillmed)

      • Non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid plus 55+ active ingredients including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, nucleic acids and antioxidants

      • Classic mesotherapy-style rejuvenation and hydration

      • Particularly helpful for dull, tired, city or smoker’s skin and those wanting a structured, skin-health programme

    • Teoxane Redensity 1

      • Lightweight hyaluronic acid with a complex of antioxidants, amino acids, minerals and vitamin B6

      • Targets fine lines, early crepiness and loss of radiance

      • Beautiful for the face, neck and décolletage, especially for that luminous, “photo-ready” complexion

During your consultation in our Hale clinic, we’ll assess your skin and explain which treatment (or combination) will give you the best results.

  • Skin boosters can help improve:

    • Fine lines and early wrinkles

    • Crepey or thinning skin on the cheeks, neck and décolletage

    • Dull, lacklustre or “tired” skin

    • Mild skin laxity and loss of elasticity

    • Textural issues and dehydration

    • Skin change related to perimenopause/menopause, weight loss or stress

    • Sun damage from years of outdoor activities or commuting around South Manchester and Cheshire

They’re ideal if you want your skin to look healthier, smoother and brighter, rather than obviously “done”.

  • You might be a good candidate if you:

    • Want your skin to look naturally fresher and more hydrated

    • Prefer subtle, undetectable enhancement over dramatic filler

    • Are in your 30s–40s noticing early changes, or in your 50s–60s wanting restorative support

    • Have a busy professional or family life in Hale, Altrincham or Manchester and want to look well without obvious downtime

    • Have already had other treatments (like anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers) and now want to invest in your skin quality

A full medical consultation ensures treatment is safe and appropriate for you.

    1. Consultation

      • Detailed medical and skin history

      • Assessment of your face, neck and/or décolletage

      • Discussion of Profhilo, Fillmed NCTF 135HA and Redensity 1, and a tailored plan

    2. Treatment

      • The skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepped

      • A fine needle or cannula is used to place small amounts of product at specific points and depths in the skin

      • Profhilo is typically injected at 5 bio-aesthetic points each side of the face; NCTF and Redensity 1 use a series of micro-injections across the treatment area

    3. Aftercare

      • You receive clear aftercare instructions and your follow-up appointment schedule

Most appointments take 30–45 minutes, depending on the area treated.

  • This varies by product and individual skin needs:

    • Profhilo®

      • Usually 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart

      • A 3rd session may be recommended for more mature or sun-damaged skin

      • Maintenance every 6 months

    • NCTF 135HA (Fillmed)

      • Typically 3–4 sessions, 2–4 weeks apart

      • Maintenance top-ups every 6 months, depending on skin and lifestyle

    • Teoxane Redensity 1

      • Commonly 3 sessions, 3–4 weeks apart

      • Maintenance every 6 months

We’ll design a realistic treatment plan that fits your skin, schedule and budget, whether you’re local to Hale/Altrincham or travelling from further across South Manchester or Cheshire.

  • You’ll usually notice:

    • A soft, hydrated glow within a couple of weeks

    • Progressive improvement in smoothness, fine lines and radiance over 4–8 weeks

    • With Profhilo, a gradual increase in firmness and “springiness” as collagen and elastin are stimulated over several months

    Typical longevity:

    • Profhilo: around 6–9 months

    • NCTF 135HA / Redensity 1: around 6–12 months, depending on your skin, sun exposure, lifestyle and skincare

Good skincare, SPF and healthy habits will help your results last longer.

  • Downtime is usually minimal:

    • Small bumps or “bee-sting” marks at injection sites (especially with NCTF and Redensity 1), which usually settle within a few hours to 24 hours

    • Mild redness and possible light swelling for up to 24–48 hours

    • Occasional small bruises, depending on your skin and any blood-thinning medications

Most patients feel comfortable going back to work, school runs or errands in Hale and Altrincham straight away, and can usually apply makeup after 12–24 hours (if the skin is intact and clean).

  • Yes – skin boosters integrate beautifully into holistic treatment plans.

They can be combined or sequenced with:

    • Anti-wrinkle injections to soften expression lines

    • Dermal fillers or polynucleotides for structure and deep dermal regeneration

    • Medical microneedling with NCTF and exosomes (Purosomes) for texture and scarring

    • Medical-grade skincare (retinoids, vitamin C, pigment control)

    • LED or chemical peels for further glow and clarity

We’ll map out a sensible plan so treatments in your Hale / Altrincham visits work together rather than compete.

  • You don’t have to decide on your own. During your consultation we’ll consider:

    • Your age, skin type and primary concerns

    • Whether your main goal is lift and firmness (Profhilo), intense hydration and nutrition (NCTF), or radiance and fine-line smoothing (Redensity 1)

    • Your timeline – for example, upcoming holidays, events or weddings in South Manchester or Cheshire

    • Your budget and how intensively you’d like to treat the skin

From there we’ll recommend a tailored protocol – for example:

    • Profhilo for global firmness and elasticity, plus

    • Redensity 1 for fine lines and brightness, or

    • A course of Fillmed NCTF 135HA for deeper skin nutrition and glow.

  • Yes

    Profhilo

Uses a very pure, thermally stabilised hyaluronic acid made by IBSA’s proprietary process.

IBSA are known for pharmaceutical-grade HA (they also make HA for eye drops and joint injections), with very low levels of BDDE and endotoxins compared to older-generation fillers.

    Teosyal Redensity 1 (Teoxane)

Contains non-crosslinked HA plus amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins in a mesotherapy/skin booster formulation.

Teoxane also emphasise highly purified HA and low protein / endotoxin levels, because these reduce the risk of inflammation and immune reactions.

    NCTF 135HA (Fillmed)

Uses non-crosslinked HA with 59 “revitalising” ingredients.

Again, it’s produced under medical/dermatological standards with purified HA specifically for intradermal use.

So yes: all three are medical-grade, highly purified hyaluronic acid injectables manufactured by established European pharma/aesthetic companies, under tight quality controls – not random beauty brand cocktails.

  • When brands talk about “ultra-pure” or “highly purified” HA, they’re usually referring to:

    1. Very low endotoxin levels

    * Endotoxins are fragments from bacteria.

‍ ‍ If they’re present in higher amounts, they can trigger redness, swelling, flu-y feelings or inflammatory nodules after injection.

‍ ‍ High-quality HA is purified to keep endotoxins extremely low, which reduces the risk of those reactions.

    2. Low protein/impurity content

Leftover proteins or contaminants from the manufacturing process can make the product more “visible” to the immune system.

‍ ‍ The purer the HA, the *less likely the body is to overreact.

    3. Controlled crosslinking / stabilisation

Some fillers use BDDE (a crosslinking agent) to make HA last longer.

‍ ‍ In skin boosters like Profhilo, Redensity 1 and NCTF, the HA is non-crosslinked or differently stabilised, designed to spread and hydrate rather than form firm “lumps”.

‍ ‍ The combination of purified HA + gentle stabilisation gives good longevity but with a “soft”, natural feel.

    4. Pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing

    * Produced in facilities that follow strict pharma standards (GMP), with batch testing, sterility checks, etc.

    * That’s what separates them from cheap, non-regulated or grey-market injectables.
