Skincare Consultations in Hale, Altrincham and Cheshire

A skincare consultation is the best place to start your skin journey with us. At our doctor led clinic in Hale, close to Altrincham and easily reached from across Cheshire and Greater Manchester, your skin is assessed by Dr Caroline Warden, an NHS GP and aesthetic doctor with nearly twenty years of medical experience. We take a holistic approach and always begin with skincare, because healthy skin is the foundation for everything else. Consultations are £75, fully redeemable against future treatments, with no pressure to buy or to proceed.

What can I expect from my consultation?

Dr Caroline begins by discussing your concerns and the goals you would like to achieve. She then assesses your skin closely, including with a dermatoscope for a magnified view, and reviews your current routine, medical history and any sensitivities. From there she designs a personalised skincare plan suited to your skin type and concerns, to help you achieve clearer, healthier skin over time. Why Choose a Doctor Led Skincare Consultation?

Not all skincare advice is the same. Your consultation is with Dr Caroline Warden, an NHS GP and aesthetic doctor with nearly twenty years of medical experience, and an independent prescriber. Unlike a beauty led consultation, this means your skin is assessed medically, your history and medications are taken into account, and where it is clinically appropriate your plan can include prescription strength skincare. Our clinic is female led and family run, alongside Dr Caroline's sister Louise Devereux, with a focus on honest advice and results that look natural rather than overdone.

Trusted by Patients Across Cheshire and Greater Manchester

Our Hale clinic was named Best Doctor Led Aesthetic Clinic in Cheshire 2026 by the GHP Awards, and Best Holistic Skin Health Clinic 2025 (Cheshire). Patients travel to us from across Cheshire and South Manchester for honest, medically led skincare advice, and we are proud of our excellent reviews on Google, Glowday and Trustpilot. When it comes to your skin, you are in safe, experienced hands.

Who is a skincare consultation for?

Consultations suit anyone who wants clearer, healthier, better functioning skin, and are suitable for all skin types across the Fitzpatrick scale. Patients come to us for acne, rosacea and redness, pigmentation and melasma, dryness and sensitivity, dullness, fine lines and the skin changes of perimenopause and menopause. Whether you feel overwhelmed by choice or simply want an expert, honest plan, this is where to begin.

Which skincare is discussed?

We are proud Obagi Ambassadors and only recommend evidence based, medical grade skincare that is backed by clinical research and has a strong record of results. Dr Caroline will suggest the products most likely to help you, based on your goals, your skin and any medical considerations, and where clinically appropriate your plan can include prescription strength skincare. How to Prepare for Your Consultation

To get the most from your appointment, it helps to arrive with clean skin where possible, or to be happy to remove your makeup. Bring your current skincare products, or a list of what you use, and have in mind the concerns and goals that matter most to you. Please also let Dr Caroline know about any medications, allergies or previous skin reactions, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as this all helps shape a safe, personalised plan.

How long is a consultation, and how much does it cost?

Skincare consultations last around 45 to 60 minutes and cost £75, giving plenty of time to discuss your skin properly. The fee is fully redeemable against future treatments. For current pricing, please see our price list.

Can I have a virtual skincare consultation?

Yes. We offer virtual consultations for patients who cannot travel to Hale, including those elsewhere in the UK. Dr Caroline can assess your skin, discuss your concerns and recommend products that are delivered directly to your door.

What happens after my consultation?

You are under no obligation to make any decision on the day. You will receive a personalised skincare plan to take away and consider at your own pace. If you would like to buy your recommended products, you can do so in the clinic in Hale, stock permitting, or through our secure online dispensary, making it easy to reorder from home.

Skincare Consultation FAQs

Do I need a consultation before starting medical grade skincare?

Yes. Medical grade and prescription strength skincare should be matched to your skin and your medical history, which is exactly what the consultation is for. It makes sure your plan is both effective and safe.

Is the consultation fee redeemable?

Yes. The £75 fee is fully redeemable against future treatments, so it is effectively credited back when you go ahead.

Will I be pressured to buy products?

Never. You are under no obligation to buy anything or to proceed. Many patients take their plan away to consider at their own pace.

Can I have treatment on the same day as my consultation?

Sometimes, where it is clinically appropriate and you feel ready. Often the best approach is to begin with skincare and arrange any treatment separately, once your skin is prepared.

What should I bring?

Your current skincare products or a list of them, along with details of any medications, allergies or skin sensitivities. Clean skin, or being happy to remove makeup, is ideal.

Do you offer virtual consultations?

Yes, for patients who cannot travel to Hale. Dr Caroline can assess your skin, discuss your concerns and arrange for recommended products to be delivered to you.

How often should I have a skincare review?

A review every few months suits most people, and sooner when starting stronger active ingredients, since your skin changes with the seasons, hormones and age.
